Sandy Alderson, the longtime general manager of the Oakland A’s and most recently the San Diego Padres CEO, will be hired as the GM of the New York Mets, multiple sources are reporting. Alderson, 62, will be charged with improving the on-field results after a disastrous 2010 season and with bringing back a winner to Queens.
